I am the Lord, your God, who took you out of the land of Egypt
With a heart full of gratitude, we recently welcomed a new grandchild into the world—a beautiful little girl, Noa Chana, born to Yaacov and Ilana. Thank God, mother and child are both well.
Newborns are the most potent reminders of the miracle of life: when you hold her in your hands and marvel at how everything, however small, works; and when you behold the purity of an untainted soul—so good, so innocent, so beautiful, it’s impossible not to feel the miracle.
According to Maimonides, the central point of our faith in God is that all life and existence come from God, because God is the only essentially living being, whereas all other life is brought into being. Appreciating life is appreciating God’s gift of life—and a meaningful way to connect with God. It’s a lofty thought and, at the same time, an incredibly grounding and spiritual one.
This week’s anchor is to find a few minutes in front of something that helps you see the miracle of life (I know what I’m going to choose) and hold this thought: the central point of our faith in God is that all life and existence come from God, because God is the only essentially living being, whereas all other life is brought into being.
Set your intention for the day by reciting The Aseret Affirmation: Ten for Ten first thing in the morning.
Wishing you safety and strength,
