Boost #66 The Vessel of Opportunity

Do not murder

This morning, we awoke to heartbreaking news: our dear neighbors the Gordons lost their 27-year-old daughter, Nomi, to a sudden aneurysm. Nomi was a rare soul—brilliant, accomplished, kind, and deeply grounded. She lived with wisdom and grace far beyond her years. What she achieved in her short lifetime would take most people decades, if ever.

Every loss painfully reminds us how fragile and precious life truly is. The loss of someone so productive reminds us that life is an opportunity. According to Jewish belief, the soul lives on, but here, in this world of time, we are given a unique gift: the opportunity to act, to choose, to develop.

The value of life extends to time itself—‘Do not murder’ also teaches us not to kill time. Time is the vessel of opportunity, and the most meaningful opportunity of all is to fill our days with deeds that echo into eternity.

The Daily Deed: Nomi cherished Torah learning. She grasped its power and beauty, and she dedicated herself to studying it with brilliance and clarity.

We all waste time. Each day this week, catch yourself in one of those moments and choose to use it for something eternally meaningful – Torah study. Today, it’s more accessible than ever—online, on every topic, freely available. Choose a topic, ask a question. Let your time become eternal.
